Decoding Democracy: Casting Your Vote

Event description

With the federal election around the corner, now’s the perfect time to brush up on how our voting system works — and why your vote really matters.

This free, 90-minute online workshop is your crash course in voting at the federal level. No jargon, no judgement — just practical tools to help you vote with confidence.

We'll cover:

  • How preferential voting works in the House of Representatives

  • How voting works in the Senate under the quota system

  • How to make an informed vote (even if you're undecided)

  • A practical workshop to decode real ballot papers

This session is beginner-friendly and perfect for anyone who wants to make change but doesn’t know where to start.

Facilitated by Ashleigh Streeter-Jones and Adi Rai
